On the 3rd – 6th of April 2017, Hospitals Beyond Boundaries (HBB) and KPJ Healthcare University College (KPJUC) organized an outreach program in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This humanitarian project is a joint effort to humbly extend our help to elevate the health and social welfare of the Phnom Penh community. This expedition provided basic health screening (i.e. BMI, blood pressure & glucose level, medical consultation, etc.) at our HBB Phnom Penh clinic and the poverty-stricken areas around Phnom Penh (during the house-to-house visit).

For this outreach program, the team visited the house boats at the along the Mekong river in Phnom Penh. Hidden from plain sight, the local community here mostly resides in a boat house or a makeshift hut built scrap materials. They are mostly Cambodia’s Cham Muslim living below the poverty line, with limited access to public amenities. In addition to basic health screening, this expedition brought along nutritional food packages to distribute to the local residents.

Other than our humanitarian outreach, this trip to Cambodia also provide a great chance for our volunteers to explore the historical sites of Phnom Penh. They had the opportunity to visit the Choeung Ek / Killing Field, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, Phnom Penh night market and much more.

Together, we can change our world.
